留学前に、わざわざ日本のアップル社に電話をかけて、「Macをアメリカで買ったら、日本で漢字ROMを付けられますか？」と長い交渉の電話をしました。そうしたら、電話の向こうの加藤さんと言う方が、根負けして「わかりました。付けてあげます。
<p>留学したら、ぜひ、向こうの情報を教えてくださいね」と、リップサービスだとは思うのですが言ってくれました。その後、アメリカに渡り、英語学校を終え、大学に入学し、無事、Macintosh SEという機種を購入しました。ImageWriter IIというプリンターとMicrosoft Word 3.0をつけて、2500ドル。同じものを日本で買いそろえていたら余裕で150万円以上していたと思います。<br>Macを購入した直後の冬休み、重たいマシンを抱えて日本に帰り、当時、溜池にあったアップル社に持っていった所、漢字ROMの追加以外にもいろいろよくしてもらいました。お世話になりました。この加藤さんは本当に恩人ですね。</p>
